Summary:
The Director is a Registered Nurse responsible for the administration and supervision of a designated nursing unit or units, including the overall planning and organizing of activities and staffing on the unit; hiring, maintaining, disciplining and firing of personnel; coordinating with other departments, physicians and the community; and participating in the financial management of the department including budgetary planning, equipment/supplies procurement and expense monitoring and responsibility.
This position is a 24 hour, seven day a week responsibility for the functioning of the department and is a member of the nursing administrative team.
This position is responsible for developing, reviewing and revising all policies and procedures relevant to the department.
Job Requirements:
BSN or specialty certification required , MSN or equivalent preferred; current RN licensure in WA State; minimum 3 years clinical experience in Labor and Delivery; minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience; current BLS certification required; demonstrated effective communication skills with multiple disciplines; lift 40 pounds from floor to waist height; lift 40 pounds from wheelchair to bed level; lift 5 pounds overhead; pull 50 pounds from stretcher to bed; push 150 pound loaded stretcher to bed.
Flexibility:
kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and squatting; able to climb onto stretcher.
Current NRP or ability to obtain within two months; active participation in specialty nursing group preferred; demonstrates knowledge of and competency in effective management of labor and delivery, post-partum and nursery patient; experience with policies and procedures and performance improvement processes; proficient with Microsoft Windows programs including Word and Excel.
